Hi Stan,
Saw this picture this morning at 5am and before i could react it was gone...not complete satisfied?
I see the struggle and the limitations of the P5000 comparing to a DSLR. It looks a bit bold, if that's the right word. Hard for me to explain in English.
But the colour toning, and let's not forget the pov (reminds me on the movie Once Upon A Time In America) is wonderful. Onde day i will stand there and make it myself...i love that viewpoint.
Regards, Henk

Excellent shot in terms of composition and framing Stan - well chosen viewpoint and good timing. You took it at the perfect time in the evening for this kind of photography.
Not so sure about your PP though - the shot looks over-sharpened, and the colours are overcooked. It would work a lot better with the saturation toned down.
Cheers,
Ben

Good morning Stan! I was just about to choose a photo from your wonderful collection when I noticed a brand new post, and this is a rare moment as most of the time I work when you get up but as it goes I have most of my Thursday afternoons off and I sometimes use it for a little treat between food shopping, cleaning the floor, pay loads of bills ... things we all have to do every once in a while. This is truly a wonderful treat for my little pause, sipping a nice espresso with it, and I find the "stars" shining from the bridge suit the mood of the town that obiously never sleeps. What is better than being driven around and that you can just enjoy and see, and have a photo stop every once in a while. Your night sky has this wonderful blue tone that I always like when it comes to night photos. Very nice, I like it a lot! Have a good working day ... Barbara.

Stan,
This is a great view of the Brooklyn bridge. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The long exposure allows for great color saturation and clarity.

Bonjour Stan,
Effectively, the composition of this shot is very good. All is well equilibrated: the place of the Empire State Building, the size of the bridge and the buildings and street in foreground.
Moreover, there are all those lights on the bridge like a christmas tree. The effect is very interesting.
I will have a look on the photo of your friend.
Yves.

Hi Stan,
beautiful light, colors, and sharpness.
The subject is very intersting too. I think al list a scene of the movie "Once upon a time in America" was taken in that street!
Regards.
Francesco.

Hi Stan,
you made the best possible use of the best possible spot in Brooklyn to produce what in my books qualifies as an EXCEPTIONAL picture of the bridge!
Scores of movie where shot in this very street, Sergio Leone's masterpiece Once Upon A Time In America being one of the most famous.
POV and management of light are astonishing, and those vibrant, absolutely wonderful colors, just sparkle away on my iMac screen...
Powerful, soulful, awesome.
Cheers,
F.
hello Stan,
nothing beats golden lights in blue hour, and if you throw in a splendid view on the two of the most easily recognisable constuctions in the world, you sure get a great photo, like this one. there's a timeless quality to the shot, even with the contemporary cars, I like it a lot. excellent quality, considering the camera, and that once again proves your skills.
take care,
Kristine
p.s. we'll have to try and find this place, the point of view is perfect :)

Hello Stan -
Well done for a P&S. I particularly like the composition with the Chrysler Building center between the bridge abutments. The POV of the camera position is also very nice. The lights on the street a very bright and blown but I do like the start effect of the lights on the bridge. Just think what you could do with your D300 and the 17-55 at this site. Well done!!
Thank you for sharing.

I guess it takes a New Yorker to be able to show you these viewpoints. I see you have joined the blue hour brigade and with a vengeance if this strong blue is anything to go by. I love the starbursts on the bridge cable lights and the reflected lights on the cobbles. Good work

Hi Stan,
Wow fantastic POV to go along with the vibrant colors. The single bridge support is wounderfully seen agains the beautiful vivid blue and complimentary golden lights. The old tenament buildings make an awesome frame for this wonderful vertical composition.

Bonsoir,
belle photo de cette vue du pont de Brooklyn pris depuis cette rue pavée entre ces bâtiments qui vous entoures et mènes nos yeux vers ce pont de toute beauté, avec ces superbes lumières étoilées et ces aubans.

hello stan
i just commented on a very recent blue-hour post by pixelterror. second later, boom, here comes your post :)) wonderful take with just the 'right feel' for this classical place. i agree with floydian: brings out 'once upon a time in america' feeling (one of my all time favorite movies). almost can hear someone shouting "Noodles, Noodles!..." from somewhere around the corner. good job, friend.
as to native americans: well, having spent most of my weekends in NYC for the last two years I can attest NYC has a LOT to do with native americans (not north americans necessarily). the city, in a sense, is run by little nicaraguian runners/bicyclers who deliver anything (restaurant orders, groceries, wine, etc.) anywhere almost at any time of the day...
warm regards,
kristaps

A great POV on this marvelous bridge, for sure !
Colors, tones, star effect are working perfectly, as do the ESB in the BG... Great job !

Hi Stan,
I find this a very bold photo - bold structures, bold colors, bold starburts. Though I find the bigger starbursts somewhat distracting. But they're a feature of the camera. Some of my night shots exhibit the same pattern when it comes to bright lights.
Great POV that you and Jorge found. You got the ESB neatly framed. The red light on the very top can be clearly seen. The cables of the bridge and the little stars add interest to the sky.
Best regards,
Lamberto

Hi Stan,
I was a little reluctant to open your NY photos since I've seen so many; I should have known that yours would be unique and exceptional - even stellar!! I so admire people that contact other TE'ers as they travel. It's truly to best way to see the world.

Hi Stan,
Coming back, slowly, from the cold... being away from TE due to heavy load at work.
Droping by your gallery, many new photos, but not much time to leave comments to all of them.
I love this one, the blue hour, and that perfect POV and composition of the Empire State framed by the bridge.
Great work
see you around
