Photographer’s Note
I like to think of this view as we turned the corner on Lake Powell as a red rock caravan traveling through the Navajo Indian reservation lands. A larger than life feeling.

Hi Kathy,
a very impressive landscape, the combination of desert rocks and water is extraordinary beautiful. Technically very good photowork, too.

Hi Kathy
Well done here. You have captured some marvellous colour and detail here. I like the diagonal line of the rocks through this image.

Hi Kathy,
The geology around Lake Powell has much to offer. I can see from you photograph how much the water level has come down. Another sign of the potential impact of the drought on the area. Best wishes,
Hakan

Hello Kathy -
The sandstone country of the southwest is just a photographers paradise and many can not do justice to it. Your image rises above the average and really shows the magic and wonder of the country. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Kathy,
hmmmm remembering my own time at Lake Powell once I look this image. The simplicity of this composition is really eye grabing. I like the fact that you got the shadow reaching into the water providing some additional depthness element in this shot besides your description of the caravan passing by diagonally.

Hello Kathy,
I like very much the composition in this image, and the brilliant red colors in the rocks and the blue of the sky and water. There must a fabulous feeling of serenity here.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Good contrast and lovely colors. The sharp clarity of this photo really makes it look 3D. I like the composition with a triangle of sky, and triangle of rocks, and a thin line of water at the bottom. Well done.

Ryan

In 1995 I visited Lake Powel and Page. It was a great trip through the American Southwest I’ll never forget. So, thank you for evoking such nice memories.
Now to the photo: It’s a very nice landscape shot, but there are some details I would have done in a different way. Take a look at the WS to see my pp proposals.
Cheers

Hi Kathy,
Very nice work with light and shadow to manage the harsh desert light. That one rock looks very much like a camel, enhancing the caravan simile.
We celebrated my parents 65 anniversary there. I had wanted to take my Dad to Rainbow Bridge since he had hiked there in the mid-fifties, before there was a lake. Alas, the lake was too low.
