Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken from highway 190 on the western side of the Badlands just below Golden Canyon. It shows another angle of colorful rock formations produced from the effects of water in an arid land. Mud and rock carried down the canyon narrows by violent downpours are seen in the foreground. The colorful hills contain conglomerate layers of light-colored deposits of silt and clay.
