Photographer’s Note

It has been a while since I have been active on TrekEarth, however, that doesn't mean I haven't been taking photos. On the contrary, I've taken quite a bit, improved cameras and increased skills (hopefully).

This shot is at treeline on Quandary Peak, just outside of Breckenridge, Colorado, off CO-9. Quandary Peak, with a summit elevation of 14,265', is considered one of the easiest Colorado "14ers". In winter it is a great summit hike but beware of the weather which can change rapidly. Only two weeks before this shot I was blown to my hands and knees high on the mountain due to extremely high winds. This day, however, was a successful summit with amazing views of the surrounding peaks. Back down at treeline it was downright warm and the trail and the blanket of fresh powder everywhere lent itself to this black and white medium.
