Photographer’s Note

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located in northeastern Arizona, within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation. The monument covers 131 square miles and encompasses the floors and rims of the three major canyons: de Chelly, del Muerto, and Monument. These canyons were cut by streams with headwaters in the Chuska mountains just to the east of the monument.
It consists entirely of Navajo Tribal Trust Land that remains home to the canyon community.
A spectacular geologic feature is Spider Rock, a sandstone spire that rises 800 feet from the canyon floor at the junction of Canyon de Chelly and Monument Canyon. Spider Rock can be seen from South Rim Drive. It has served as the scene of a number of television commercials.

Hi Franco,

my friends were in Arizona and they say it is most unforgetable country. I see you were there to. From these capture I must agree with my friends. It is almost unbelievable to see greenery and trees growing from red rock, from this dry soil, all so greatly together with beautiful complementary colours and vivid sky. Most beautiful impression!

Dear Franco,
perhaps this red rock may be shining vivid orange and red at sunrise or sunset time lighted low sun ray.
now the contrast between red of rock and blue/white of sky with cluds is beautiful.
(red rock contains the iron, and good for blueberry.)
