Scripps Pier is part of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California, one of the oldest, largest, and most important centers for marine science research, graduate training, and public service in the world. Research at Scripps Institution of Oceanography encompasses physical, chemical, biological, geological, and geophysical studies of the oceans. It also includes the world famous Birch Aquarium.

beautiful colours in this shot, Walter. I like how the pier leads the eye into the shot and towards the golden light, nicely composed. but I particularly like the patterns created by the waves, shadows and poles of the pier, they go well together and create a very harmonious photo. well seen and presented, my compliments.

This is a great composition. You have very well framed to place the pier just in the right place to give a long perspective and depth to your image.
The quality is really impressive : DOF, colors and sharpness... All is perfect.
The golden reflection on the wet sand and the shadows of the wooden stakes are also wonderful.
Very well done. I like this picture and add it in my favourites right now !

Somewhere I would like to visit one day..
The colour and contrast is very agreeable, as are the reflections and shadows. Good timing as well to have the sun behind the pier.

Hi Walter, this is such a great photo. You out the sun in the perfect spot. Good composition and POV. Great exposure. love the shadows created by the pier in the sand.

Wellcome one TE with the photograph of my favourite site in San Diego. Nice POV, simplicity and deepness.
When my computer collapsed two years ago I lost all my San Diego photos. Yours reminded me one of my favourite eternally lost photo.
