[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Rained hard a few days after Christmas.
During the busy night in between Christmas and new years, there is this extra traffic of foot soldiers who do not mind the weather change.

ISO 800 with some help from neatimage.

very good use of BW, I like the diagonal POV

Just thinking, B, what about trying it with extra graininess? It is a gritty sort of rainy, tough, city shot, plus it is presented in B&W, so I was thinking...what if B added even more grain? Sort of evoking a 1950's newspaper editorial type of gritty shot. Just thinking out loud...

B: thx for the heads up on Neat Image. Because of you, I got it too! ;)

Rain is great for pictures, if not for the camera:-)

I like this very much, you got the mood, the strong lights and the reflections on the wet pavement, the blurred people, cinematographic feeling, and yes some more grain would be interesting. Well done.

All my best wishes for a happy, healty, peaceful 2008 !
Regards
Michèle

Let's hope for less rain in 2008. Really nice one. The tones are excellent. The umbrella-less figure in the spotlight brings it all together. Happy New Year, Brian. Best, -Hugh

...and you who don't mind the weather to do photography and show us this amazing pic :) Great atmosphere here showing the busy action in this great city. Dear Brian, wish you the best in 2008!
Cheers

Very nice work of art Brian, I do agree with their critiques here, more grain would be good for this photo, but it still looks great with less. I like the motion blur, the bright headlight, the gloom present here.

I'm proud of you! God bless you more!

Peace,
Kaye

Hello Brian
Beautiful picture, we feel the rain! I like the details
Greg

I love this rain shots in the night...city lights and glow off the pavement. Here is particularly like the slanted rain-beats across the car headlights, and the angles of the pedestrians around the field of view. Excellent contrast work. Bravo!

Superb lighting and textures shown by the reflections. Excellent B&W conversion. I really like the anonymity that blurring of the people gives. It could be anyone in any town - just a great image. Regards, Paul.

Hi Brian,

What a pleasant darkness! What a nicely depressing feel to it! The feel of haste, of people not looking around, of loneliness. Very nice. And not too soft. You managed well in neat image to keep the noise that is enhancing the image and deleting it in the dark blacks of the lonely people passing by.

Greetings, Dennis

Hi Brian. Love this scenery. Quite attractive and beautiful. Rain in the city brings beautiful gloomy mood and glittery sights together, especially at night. But I don't like to take my camera out in the rain. You are brave, brian!

wow! this atmosphere! Love rain and night so I just can love this one... a favorite!

Hi Brian,
Love this one. The night combined with the rain, the lights coming from the cars, the only window illuminated in the building... and the passers-by...
Yes, it is wet out there...
Andre

I especially like this one from your portfolio, Brian. The wet chill and weight of loneliness is palpable in the image. No frills, just a cold reality visual.

CT
