OK, back to addiction, 4 uploads within a week.

Today I got so sick of all that open water that Curtis is showing us all the time, and Norbert's upload of today, the scenic outdoor pool, Line talking about swimming in the sea today, that I had to make a statement.

All that time, I was reminded of one of the most stunning surroundings I have ever swum. It was in sept. 2003, when I was touring the west of the USA with a friend. We had a small camper, a renovated Dodge from 1973, and we have seen a lot of National Parks in that period. (As far as nature is concerned, this was the most overwhelming holidays, I have ever had).
On our way to Capitol Reef NP and Bryce Canyon, we drove through this stunning scenery, the Provincial Park, Glen Canyon. As it was lunchtime, and pretty hot, we chose for a dive in the water, as we both thought it was quite attractive. Apart from swimming in the middle of the night in Greece, I have never felt so good while swimming. The water was cold, but very, very nice.
Afterwards we had lunch, but the wind was so strong, all our salami got blown away. This was in my mind all the time seeing those pictures, and although it's not a very good quality, I just wanted to share it.

I think I took this picture with my Samsung compact, it is scanned, and I have done some noise removal, and some level work on the water.
As a workshop I have uploaded 2 pictures of the surroundings, to give you an idea about the nature. Lousy scans, all are, also my scanner needs updated.

Never mind the quality, this is what I mean I've allready got my dog's leash and my swimsuit ready, it's so attractive, and it is time for my last swim today ;oD It woulkd haqve been a nice addition to this lovely scene to have a piece of salami flying by. Good work you addict, said the chairwoman of the TE rehab group ;o)

A very nice holiday-story, Rinie !
And the picture, I can imagine, that nature is beautiful in Glen Canyon, we don't have this here around Amsterdam....and yes, Rotterdam !
I like your picture with the full colours and the quality is really good for me

Now that's a sharp change from the carnival ladies Rinie... I'm glad Curtis and Norbert sent you digging for this one - it's fantastic! The colors and composition are so beautiful, I just sat and looked at it for a while. Sounds like you had a fantastic day there... Thanks for sharing the sights and memories.

Enough of this water envy Rinie! ;-)

I understand, of course, that faced with foul weather one must resort to one's collection of images. This is a lovely one, though as you observe, scanning is less than ideal. I took the opportunity to do a workshop for your consideration. I think I solved some of the problems, in particular the noise in the sky. See what you think. I don't wish to become an enabler to your addcition, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to play.

Quality is not so bad, Rinie, I see that Curtis did a good job in his WS, and you finally got a very nice shot. Colors and light are wonderful. Water looks very inviting.

Great that you pulled this one from your archives, Rinie, it sure would have been a pity to miss it. What a wonderful scenery and what a great place to have a swim (albeit a cold one). I think overall the scan came out good and renders the colors and textures of this unique landscape quite well. The blue sky and clouds are wonderful too.

Very nice sharp image. You know what this reminds me of? The original Planet of the Apes. This makes me think of the scene at the beginning where they crashed into the sea. All that weathered rock, the cold, deep blue of the water and the big blue sky really give this a sort of eerie feel. It looks very inviting but at the same time has that spookiness. I guess because with this blue water one would expect a lot of green. Like the lakes around me. But it's completely desolate. Quite a scene. Great job all around.

Trés joli panorama avec un mariage de couleurs vraiment beau.
Le petit nuage blanc est a mon gout la petite touche finale.
L'image a un leger grain mais rien de bien mechant.
Bravo Rinie.

Nice to see you back.

The gold and the blue are good contrasting colours you have captured here. If I have one word to describe this picture, NEAT comes to mind. Very well-composed.

BTW, my post today is my answer to your kid portrait posted a while back.

Wonderful warm / cold opposition & layering in this image.

Hi Rinnie!

Nice shot you've taken here. I like how the land mass (rock) devides the different shades of blue.
Intriguing grain in the rock, superb color saturation in the water & sky = great shot!

Cheers!

Yes, we've been there and fished there. It's my home state. An otherworldy place, and I know the Europeans like it. nice shot.

The Glen Canyon - the start of the Colorado River if I am correct, I remember these colours well, you have captured the colours of the area perfectly, makes me want to go back and visit again, the quality is not so bad ;-)
