Photographer’s Note
This house was used in the 1988 children's movie The Adventures of Pippi Longstockings. This house is located in the "Old Town" area of Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Old Town was originally settled by Timucuan Indians, who probably chose it because of its high and dry location along the Amelia River and its fertile soil. Later, the Spanish recognized these attributes as well as its defensible position in the western Atlantic, and because it was close to the gold route from South America to Spain. Old Town was platted by the Spanish in 1811 – the last town platted to the ‘Laws of the Indies’ in the Western hemisphere. Four other US cities were platted to the Laws of the Indies; they are (in alphabetical order) Albuquerque NM, Laredo TX, Santa Fe NM, and Tucson AZ *. The original grid – encompassing some 26 blocks – remains to this day, although some has been lost to erosion by the river and other by the routing of the ‘14th Street extension’ through it. Included in the original plat was the Plaza de la Constitution (Plaza San Carlos) which occupies a full block of green space overlooking the Amelia River and is now administered by nearby Fort Clinch State Park; two blocks are included in the historic Bosque Bello Cemetery. Old Town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hello Asa,
A good capture of this imposing timber house surrounded by trees, which make a nice contrast with the white paintwork. Very good sharpness and colours. Just a pity for the overhead wires.

Hi Asa,
nice white house under that blue sky. Good POV to take it a bit diagonal and the wooden structure is excellent visible. I like the colours with that white within.

Hello Asa,
Very good perspective on the house of "Pipi Longstocking." The pristine white of the house stands in dramatic contrast to the deep blue of the sky.
Warm regards from Virginia,

Bonjour Asa,
Quelle splendide architecture dont les belles couleurs contrastent avec ce ciel d'un bleu profond!
Je ne connais pas le film "The Adventures of Pippi Longstockings" mais comme décor cinématographique c'est une réussite.

Hi Asa,
My mother read the first book about Pippi Longstocking (Pippi Långstrump) when I was about 4-5 years old and this is exactly how I imagined her house, Villa Villerkulla. This is a very fine photo and the composition is also great. Guess you can´t avoid wires...

Hi Asa,
Excellent capture of this ornate old southern home with its beautiful gables reaching to the vivid blue sky that contrast wonderfully with the white wooden beauty. The plam tree and freshly painted picket fence are two additional elements to this fine photo.

Hello Asa,
the charm and the harmony of an old character masonry. Framing is very well carried out to show this house under a beautiful sky and a very pleasant light. I like this kind of photograph. Superlative note.

Hello Asa
I didn't know there was a movie about Pippi made in the US! This is a great looking house and could have been Pippi's if... it was yellow instead of white and if... it hadn't been in such perfect condition and if... there had been a 'soda tree' instead of that palm tree.
Anyway a very nice, sharp photo with great light and colours.
Maybe the electric wires could have been cloned out.
Regards

Hi Asa,
Nice old house with style, the exposure is top notch here to deliver brilliant highlights and good contrasts, it would not be a big task to get rid of the wires.
Have a nice day JY

Interesting old fashioned house, but I should tell you to I was more allured by the title, and had to thinks sometimes before identifying the character, who I believe is this extra strong litle gilr with red hairs. Her French name is "Fifi Brindacier"...
All the best,
Emmanuel

Excellent picture! Colors, sharpness, composition - all eye catching. I love the story of Pipe Longstocking and have read it many times to young children in my classes. What an interesting note too.
