In the Black Mountains lies the summit of Mount Mitchell, at 6,684 feet, the highest point east of the Mississippi. Of the 10 peaks in the Black Mountains, 6 are the highest peaks in the eastern United States.
Just a short drive off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt Mitchell affords breath taking views of the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. |
