On any given day you can find a colorful array of people outside of Madison Sq. Garden/Penn. Station.
I waited a while to go ahead and post this. My gut feeling told me not to until I saw it again on my film strip.

Hi Brian
very cool and spontaneous shot - good decision to post this ;)Okay...it may not look very nice, but I like the feel of it. He's very imposing here and you got him bang in the middle. And then I like the subway arrow pointing at him and how all the signs act together as a big, natural frame. Downside to this is perhaps the lighting, but then thats uncontrollable. I also like your very low angle view, but ...I presume you didn't look through your viewfinder :p Good work.
Cheers

Hello Brian. An original photo. Chest and belly navels of the man look nearly like a face. A beautiful snapshot. Best regards, Wolfgang.

I like this Brian - he certainly makes for an interesting subject, and I like the way you framed him with the street sign overhead. I wish you'd taken it a fraction of a second earlier so that his foot wasn't cropped, but that's just me being picky as usual.
There's a strange softness to the whole image which does detract from it a bit in my opinion. Can't be camera shake at that shutter speed - well I suppose it could have been - were you nervous? ;)
I'm glad you decided to post this - interesting shot.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Brian. A brave shot. I hoped the angle was abit lower to include his both legs. But as Chuek hin said, you didnt look through the view finder? I wouldn't be brave enough to take a pic like this, hahaha.

Hi Brian,

I like the shot you're showing here, but it also makes some questions pop up! I'm wondering about the motion blur at 24mm and 1/160... I'd say it's more that the man walks out of the narrow DoF and that creates the softness.
But I like your title, no guts no glory I'd say! ;-)

Greetings, Dennis

Cool one, Brian! Yo! The belly guy could do with a leetle extra sharpness and "pop" but the general feel of the thing is fine. I think the pic cries out for some kind of creative WS that can bring out certain hidden qualities, like perhaps the golden, coppery tines of the fellow's belly if emphasized. It certainly deserves the full whack from where I'm sitting. Nice to see you uploading again, guy...it's been a while!

Hallo Brian!
A wonderful daily life scenery - real life! What a man! ;-)Greetings from autumnal Germany and have a nice weekend!
Frank

Hello Brian,
Here's another interesting NYC character. :-) I guess he didn't notice you shooting...or maybe he just didn't care! It really is funny how his torso resembles a face, and I like the busy background. There is so much going on, yet this man seems so detached. I agree with Ben's comments about a bit of blur, but anyway it's a street shot, and it gives the feeling of motion on the streets.

This photo makes me laugh. I can't get over that he is walking around with his big gut hanging out. It must have been one hot beeotch that day. I thought at first I wish you could have gotten his feet in the frame but then you would have missed the street sign and that's a big part of NYC photos is the street signs, I think. Hope things are going well.

Talk to you later,

Mel
