[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A man once came into the record store that I worked in...It was some years back, I was young...I stood upright and believed that my ideas were what mattered. I believed I knew the truth.
I was an arrogant fool.
As I stood behind the counter in Lanham Maryland, this man approached. Not really caring who I was or what my politics were; he began to talk of friends and the dissipating record of his thoughts and years.
He talked of the people he would've died for...Those whose uncles called them kids.
The years are relentless...never resting and unforgiving in their pursuit of time. Tarnishing and coroding, cracking and rotting; the years cover then fill pushing weight upon weight expanding the lines and cracks below eyes heavy...
and dark.

He began to cry.

It's a true story.

Chris.

it tells a story, bluntly, like a hammer to the head. and thats the appeal here of course. from the dark headed spectre to the deep leaning shadows; it all works in favor of the message.

not speaking technically about this since this shot requires a more lenient veiw of the "rules"... but it is good.

great job and fine post.
steve

Hi Chris. A change from the usual colourful landscapes and castles we see here on TE. A photo with a conscience from a photographer with a conscience perhaps. This image certainly has impact and the note is though provoking. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

A good protest image Chris, the message is clear with the words very distinct and right in front of our eyes, and the low point of view puts her in a strong position. Nicely done.

Hi Chris. I think I get his message. the picture gives out quite a strong impact, with its POV, and another man carring a flag but he looks quite casual. This is a very nice documentary shot.

As long as you're posting your images.
As long as you are writing your notes.
As long as you share your thoughts with us, Chris - the world will stay a better place.

HALLELUYAH !!!!

Your place is there… Among the people of your city…
Stay there on guard with your camera !

The way the woman in black murges with striding deepening shadow on the guy on the right really sends a shiver down me - there is somehow such a presence of death in this image as well as a call for life - very powerful and even more so by the skilful use of the tilt to present a more energetic image that throws the world off kilter......fantastic note.....

Good Question, without any doubt.
the answer......peace.
But this will take a lot of effort, more than slowing down the warming of the planet,but....
we should keep trying.
I like your note, revealing how we should put aside all our certitude, putting gray, a lot of it, in everything.
Your photo? Yes you want to know what I think of it.
It is well done against the sun, technically speaking, but....I do not feel any emotion looking at it, I do not feel any impact, it does not speak to me. Without your note, it is not enough to transmit the message.
Sorry Chris, I do not want to sugarcoat my critic, I have too much respect for you and for what you want to achieve. And I know that you need my feedback, like others, to get your direction.
It is always a pleadure to discover your work.
Have a good week

Hi Chris,
Great serie of the black pictures. I like this one by the message and how you framed it.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice weekend

Hello Christopher,

You captured the woman protesting against war, very well. Perfect choice of B/W to highlight the grieving emotion against war. It is really a pity that some people kill people in the name of war for the shake of own political gain. Your pic is the most relevant post at TE in recent times considering present world wide scenarios. Thanks for sharing not just a beautiful pic but the most sentimental post.

Best wishes,
Arjun

Hi Chris,
Strong capture and great message. I like the framing and POV.
