Photographer’s Note
This old car beckoned to me while on a photo trek with a friend. It was a frosty morning, very cold, and we were having fun with the hoar frost that was all over everything.
There are old, rusty, abandoned cars like this all over the U.S. They are in fields like this one, in people's sheds, outside people's sheds (which may have been the wrong place for storage of a vehicle), and placed on river banks, presumably for erosion control. Now they molder and fade away: very large litter. On the other hand, when one drives by an old car like this (or truck, as it were), there are feelings of nostalgia for the glory days of the car and its period.

Wonderful All American shot!
Rough and rusty, exactly as I like it, with some amazing lighting as icing on the cake.
Have a great sunday.

Good morning David ... at least in Zurich, actually almost approaching lunch time. This is an amzing photo how the sun moves through the car's window letting its rays shine on the old rust and probably melting away the frost. You are right, such remains are spread out throughout the States, and we always say that we would love to have a little more space in Switzerland to be able to store things like maybe an old car. Enjoy your Sunday morning ... a little later with a good cup of coffee maybe :)))

Hello David,
I impressed from the photographic result but most of all from the idea and the technique!
The very old car is interesting as a subject but the sun rays gives all the beauty here. The overexposed area seems fitting very well, giving an extra artistic touch!
wishes for the new week,

very nice. I've been drawn to taking pictures of old barns, abandoned houses, rusty cars in much the same way! I really enjoy how you put yourself in the correct spot to get the sun through the door like that. Color are brilliant - you can almost feel the crisp cold morning.
Very Well done.

Gotta love the author, Stephen King, look in this specatular shot. It is a first rate look at how to transform something unusual into something so engaging. The car has a life of its own that the rising sun and the hoar frost add to that message immeasurably. Good work!

Kathy

We usually make a point of avoiding white skies and here you actually invite it and make it a feature. I love the way you have captured the sun flare and used a low POV. You have taken something mundane and made a work of art. Excellent work

Hi David
A simple idea executed with perfection. The composition is great. What i particularly like about this photo is the perfect position of the sun and the lens effects that have caused the glorious sparkle. Just so perfectly symbolises what you want to convey. Great work.

Interesting capture David. Of course the subject itself - and then the light of the rising sun - for me also the way you use the washed out sky in this setting is something special.
Fine photo work..

Belle photo de ce vieu camion et de ce soleil ainsi pris, l' effet est superbe avec cette étoile lumineuse qui illumine votre photo. Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté malgrés le contre jour. Bien vu, bien pris. Amitiés Thomas

Hello David.
What an awesome old truck. I dream of stumbling across one like this in a paddock somewhere. Excelent exposure and POV. Great light. Very well done.

Hi David. I like this shot a lot. The sunlight splintering through the old vehicle's window looks fantastic and takes away attention from the white sky, which in any case only makes the old pickup (we call them utes) stand out more, as if you wanted a white sky. The almost sepia tones work really well and the sharpness of the detail on this abandoned thing only reminds one of its past glory. Super shot.

Andrew

You make me feel like going to USA to explore the continent to find moods and lost place and to find the Frontier...
A strong atmosphere here, with this old car, well composed.

David,
a typical western image with the scattered old parts of what represents a not so long time ago expansion into the wild. The composition with the low angle looking up into the sun s very strong. Surprising to see that you got such an impressive star effect with such a low f/5.6.

Hi David,
first : I like this very much. And I ask myself if that large white from the overexposed sky is necessary, I can't tell you. Very well placed sun (Hey you can place a sun, great, it is a large thing), great skin of the car, excellent grass around it. Reminds me to the bones of dead animals in the desert. As I wrote, I like it. The question of overexposure is only technical here.

This is a very beautiful shot! Only a trained eye can catch that glitter of light. As Albert Eistein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." That is debatable but for this photo it is more imagination.
Thank you for your visit and comments on my photo, "La Sagrada Familia Church". I appreciate it.

Hi David,
Very interesting effect you have created by subjecting your image to over exposure. The gold and green lines really highlight the beauty of this old workhorse in its beautiful decay.

Hi David
A star 15 filter! Good contrast & graphism with well managed tricky lighting & superb sharpness. The old car wreck in the long grass still has a lot of character. Tfs!

You know Dave, that I have the feeling that this car is still alive and well.
The angle chosen gives the car a very impressive look, almost terrifying, looking at us with its unnatural eye.
I am surprised that you got a star with an aperture of 5.6?
Very well done Dave
Have a good week
Charles

Hi David,
Playing again with extreme light, hum? And much successfully! It's amazing how it is so well instead of completely ruined like it would happen to most of us. I like very much the POV and the nostalgic mood.

Hi David,
Nice idea, playing with the sun light. But as a whole I think this is picture isn't so appealing.
Yes, I've seen also old cars like this, even in the Mojave Desert, for example.

Hi David,
The sky appears burned (sobreexposed) but does not matter because the work is very interesting and creative, was good idea to use the force of the Sun to create that beautiful effect of light, good use of the flash to eliminate the dark zones of the car, a different shot with a good result.

Hi David
I could properly try to take a similar photo around here (at least got do have an old car :-) but I will never get the atmosphere like this.
The starry sun makes the image complete and yes - that car have seen better days

Hi David.
Thanks for visiting may gallery, it has allowed me to visit yours, and it is very interesting.
This last picture is very good, I like the low POV and short focal length you have used to make biggest this old lorry. The detail of the sun is very good and difficult to do, it has done the sky so clear, but i like the picture in all the ways. Well friend, regards from Spain and escuse me for my english.

THere is so much in this picture, David.
The "blind" clasic car, in a strange light, the sunrays through the missing window, and the way they are changing colors where they meet the frame, and the special atmosphere above all. I just love it.
