[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Skyline Drive of Shenandoah National Park runs about 100 miles through the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia. The mountains, weather patterns and abundant greenery make fog and mist common in the area.

This photo was snapped out of the driver's side window of the car and is pretty representative of the scenery, at least on the day we drove through the park.

Wow..this picture looks so unreal in our days of concrete jungles. Has a very eerie feel to it.

Reminds me of the game Myst :)

les lutins se cachent ils?
superbe cliché mais j'aurais bien vu un "petit quelque chose rouge" .......

Beautiful lighting Joe, and well framed (especially since it was out the window). You should come back to the same spot and take another picture in late October, during the fall colours. It would be a cool comparison.

Hi Joe,

I think your photo very been successful, good composition and is well development by lighting. Simply the dominant green one seems to me too marked . I'd like if you allow it to me, to try a workshop in tone brown. Thanks

This one is surreal. I like the way the further the tress are the more they look engulfed in the mist. I liked the PoV too.

that's an awesome shot! I live pretty close to Skyline drive and never have I seen it look like that. I guess that's because I only go on sunny days. I think I need to go up there when we have that sort of weather and see for myself!

This is really a fantastic image! The colour of the mist is incredible and you can almost feel like if you were right there! Superb shot!

Joe, This is just beautiful. It brings me back to a hiking/camping trip I took in Shenendoah Nat'l Park many years ago. I have always wanted to go again.. and looking at this, I just may do it.

But even apart from the personal connection, the shot is lovely. I like that you were able to preserve the green so well in the obscured light of the fog and to invite some curiosity about what is down the slope into the woods. Very soothing.. I can feel the coolness and smell the leaves.

Some of that mist is running through my veins...
The Mosby's and Winston's genes.
Shenandoah is really beautifull. Thank you for sharing this picture of this blessed land. When I see this picture, I understand why they called my gr-gr-great uncle John Singleton Mosby the "Gray Ghost". Not only because he was so fast with his grey cape, but also because of this mist... ;-)

This is a beautifully moody photo. I love the scene here, simply yet mystical.
I couldn't resist trying a B&W conversion.
I think I like the greens better though.

I like the green atmosphere in this picture, I feel as I´m in this forest when watching it.

Amazing shot Joe. I love this mist effect. Good description of the Shenandoah park. Ross
