Photographer’s Note
This is a companion shot to the building with the elaborate gas pipes running up the brick wall. The reflection in the window depicted in that image was of this building. I thought posting it this week after sharing a couple of photos of cranes on Oakland's waterfront made sense.
This building is not only a neighbor the first building, but also of the huge crane in the distance. As I observed before, this is in the midst of an old industrial area that has been slowly transformed for office and residential use. It is part of Oakland's renaissance. The city has historically had an inferiority complex because of its more famous neighbor across the Bay. In truth, Oakland is a much more liveable city where it is possible to walk tree lined streets, find parking for your car and enjoy distinctive neighborhoods and a thriving waterfront. Hope you enjoy these neighbors. Next week I return to Marin County.

I like the contrast between the two parts of this shot, modern indusry, and a nice place to sit by an old building. Good placing of the end of the wall.

Very well seen and composed. The contrast is seizing. Not only in terms of old classic vs modern industrial urban, but also in terms of colours.

it´s pretty interesting how you managed to get such different neighborhood in colors, shapes, uses...
the left hand side of your picture has a countryside feeling (which is also in its lower part) but the right hand side is... awful ;)
lovely composition, Curtis.

I remember that one, this one has even more natural elemnts than the first, adding the sky and the pretty lavender. The crisp line made by the wall and the sky is really good. The whole bench and table setting is quite amuzing, seeing that the view is a huge industrial area, but then again if you sat on the other side of the table you woyuld see a lovely ivy, right?
No need to dignify the following with a comment, but the crane looks like a horse and I wonder is they put it behind barbwire so it stays put, I mean it cannot be because anyone would steel it.

Nice details throughout and a great contrast. The old, brick, building with the vines growing up looks so much more pleasant even if it was once an industrial building. It still has a human touch in contrast to the very strict, hard and mechanical crane in the distance, separated from this by barbed wire fence. Good job.
