Photographer’s Note
This is at the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco, where I took photos with Sam and others. For this shot I lowered myself towards the ground and shot up.

This is really nice, Adam. Good choice of B&W. Your perspective of looking up works well for me. The people in the background add movement to the shot. Very well done!

I like the original way Sam is isolated from the rest: not only through a limited DOF but also through the fact that he is the only person that does not seem to be overexposed and/or moving past. The trees frame him nicely and give balance to the shot. And, nice imposing hat!
PS: If this is not Sam, let's call him Humphrey then!

solid composition, interesting character, love the hat. Love how the people in the background are there and yet not there. What sort of technique did you use to achieve that effect?

Fantastic B&W shot, like CedarBough I like a lot how look people in the background.

How oftern does anyone get the chance to shoot a man in a hat like that (Not to mention the elbow-length gloves!). Then you've added extra punch with your low camera angle. Well done!
