Photographer’s Note
A single piling sits unoccupied at a pier along the Texas City Dike, a levee built to stop the storm surge that accompanies Hurricanes. The resugence of Pelicans after the ban on DDT is amazing. Once endangered, the birds are now almost as common as Seagulls.

I had nearly forgotten about these birds. It is great to hear they are on the rebound. Very nicely composed, though perhaps a bit too over sharpened. Go show regardless.

Amazing the proliferation of the pelicans after the ban on DDT. You should see the effect on the dandelion caused by the ban on herbicid... Tons and tons of dandelions on the grass in front of the town-house...

In Portugal we have the plague of the Seagulls in many places, now is the Pelicans plague in Texas City. These birds really make dirty very.
Good snapshot and good lightening.

Hi Jim, I like the title and your shot.It is interesting to see all the birds that you have captured, all in different poses.
They show up well against the blue-grey sky.
Interesting note about the DDT,did it kill the fish so that the birds had no food?
TFS, regards Jean.
