The Flag of Honor posted at the World Trade Center Site.

On the background flag are letters to friends and family that were killed that day. On the front flag are the names of the people lost on Sept 11 with a few markers for people to circle names they recognize.

No post processing except a slight crop on the left. I also thought the addition of the gasmask was appropriate and adds a little interest.

I have no info on the photo as I am now getting into older photos and have to pull out the raw files. Sorry about that - I will find them eventually.

Thanks,
John

Hello John,

A good portrayal of such a sad yet heroic place, this shows the care and honour people are capable of in difficult times. The breathing apparatus to the side shows us a relic of times of hardship and struggle. Very thought provoking, the moment that stopped the world.

hi john,i guess ordinary people pay a high price for everything and they can`t forget that, nor should they.good graphic presentation of the flag, high definition and quality of the image again.

regards,oana:)

Hi John,

A poignant reminder of the tragic loss of life and a well written note explaining exactly what we are seeing.

Regarding the image itself: It reminds me of a Jasper Johns painting with the two stars & Stripes on top of each other. Do you know the painting I mean? In the painting there were actually three stars & stripes on top of each other with each one smaller than the one below. I also agree with you on the addition of the gas-mask, it adds a personal element to the composition and it's nicely placed in the bottom corner of your frame too.

Regards,

Rich

Hi John,
The flag of USA resemble to the flag of Malaysia, good composition to record the sad history, wish no war since that.

Hi John,

This flag bears more signification than ever before, when innocent victims are represented by the Stars and Stripes. In time of war, like Iwo Jima or Vietnam, it was about patriotism, but here, it’s about mourning.

People around the world might see american flag as the icon of imperialism, but after 9/11, everyone was behind USA. This image is a reminder of this human tragedy.

Cheers!

André
