Photographer’s Note
Lower McCloud Falls. Nestled in the Shasta National Forest this falls is one of three created by this scenic mountaing range and McCloud river.
Lower McCloud Falls is a small drop (~15 ft.). Although small, McCloud River is a powerful force shooting off a narrow ledge. Even late in the year, McCloud River flows quite strong. Lower Falls is also an extremely popular area for a picnic and swimming in the river. It is a perfect spot for diving off the top of a waterfall into a pool. The best time to get here for pictures is early in the morning or late in the evening, to beat the crowds and the sun. It is also very peaceful to sit by the waterfall when no one else is around.
This waterfall was originally named "Nurum-wit-ti-dekki" by the native Wintu indians. The name meant "falls where the salmon turn back". That is a much more interesting name than "Lower Falls". We say this waterfall should be changed back to its original name.
Cropped to get some of the human element sout of this composition.

Hello Pranab,
This is an attractive composition with a good diagonal main line of movement!
I like the point of view, good natural colours and sharp fine details...
15 feet will most likely stop the salmon, no reason to doubt the Wintu indians and that means the pool we see here is/ was a great place for fishing!

Bonjour Pranab
For sure the original name sounds better :) A pleasant spot to enjoy with friends/family/ and the little pool in FG with the small fall is very inviting. There is a sense of depth and the natural colors are well rendered.

Hi my friend Pranab!
Thanks for showing this calm "organic" corner of the world! Good presentation of colors and forms. Good effect of slower shutter on the running water.
Have a nice weekend!
