Photographer’s Note
This is my first posting on Trekearth. Yes, this really is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Being the governor of California, he came to Ft. Irwin to send us off to Kuwait and Iraq in March.
He was his humerous self, asking us if we wanted to hear his prepared "governor's @#*%# speech" or if we wanted to just have him talk to us. You can guess what our response was...
I got a few nice shots of him and got to shake his hand after the ceremony.
I plan to take you on a photographic journey with me to Germany, Kuwait and ultimately to Baghdad, Iraq. So, sit back and enjoy the ride. "I'll be back!"
Phil (feel free to visit me at Treklens under the same name "philip.")

Wecome to TE. You show us an interesting photo. What I like about this photo are the facial expressions. The military persons have a serious but silent and confident attitude. The governor seems to be supportive.
I hope your stay in Iraq is not dangerous;
Peace is a right for all humans.

Great start on TE, Phil, welcome! It almost looks like a movie scene, but of course by now we have become familiar with Arnold's new role. You were positioned really well in the crowd to catch this from a good angle, and I like the color setting provided by the army clothes of the soldiers woh are listening. The guy snapping a photo in the background is a neat detail. What a way to start your postings with a photo of the Governator, I guess it's all downhill from here :-)) [just kidding]. Well done, and stay safe down there.
Incidentially, I was born in the same city as Arnold (Graz, Austria, where I lived for the first 13 years of my life). A couple years ago they even named the city's soccer arena in his honor - the only place in the world where the visiting team gets to play in the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium ;-)

Hasta La Vista Phil !
Thank you for your comment Phil and really, welcome to TE. This shot of yours is a mark in contrast. An action movie figure in the midst of real life soldiers.Still, this difference means nothing when the sides respect and understanding each other.This is what this shot means. Photo quality, composition and exposure fits the picture.
Take care now and God's with you Phil.

Hi !
A very political picture. You should make pictures for the news. It´s nice to see an Austrian again. Ah sorry, from California. I work in the City Arnold was born a long time ago in Graz, Austria. For some he is still a hero of Graz. He still comes to Austria some time. For the people of Graz and Styria he is the only man who became famous and thats not wrong. The soccer stadium in Graz had his name. Then he say "yes" to a death penalty and this was the end. Graz was not very nice to him and so he told the city to rename the stadium. But time has passed and they are "friends" again.
Greetings from Austria
Andreas
