I know this is not the most beautiful photo ever posted to TrekEarth, nothing too special about it photographically or aesthetically speaking, but I posted this photo because of what it shows.
This photo is taken in the town of Snoqualmie, Washington. This town is basically just endless rows and rows of houses where forest once stood.
"According to Washington State population estimates, Snoqualmie grew to 6,345 or 289.03% between 2000 and 2005, ranking it 1st of 281 in population growth in Washington State. The 2006 estimate was 7,815."
Most of the people who live here work in Seattle or the Eastside. It seems the town is just a place to build houses and have a nice view. Sure, people do need a place to live, but I am saddened every time I drive through here. Are we destroying so much just for a nice view? |

Hello Matthew
Good composition - the confrontation between the monumental beauty of the mountains and the destruction process at the foot of it.
Perfect!

Hello Matthew!
It's always very very sad to see forests dissapearing from the eart. I have witnessed it myself while i was in Alaska, on small island called Kake. Nearly the whole island was devastated by tree harvesting. Very sad photo, well done though.
Good luck
viktor
I think the scenery in the background is very nice. The machines on the foreground definitely ruin the environment and the view. This picture is compeling of a situation happening in many places. The destruction of natural habitats is a srious problem. Well done showing this situation. Thanks Matt.
