Photographer’s Note

... Holland, Michigan that is. Holland, MI is an all-American city with a Dutch accent and is the home of the Tulip Time Festival, now going on till the 12th of May. Holland has a large percentage of citizens of Dutch American heritage, many who still practice forms of the Dutch Reformed faith brought by the original settlers. (Incidentally, Holland has also a large Hispanic population - about 22% - so they also have a huge Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival.) Holland is on the shores of Lake Macatawa and is near the shore of Lake Michigan.

These rows and rows of tulips were photographed at the Veldheer Tulip Garden, Holland's only tulip farm, boasting of acres and acres of over 500 varieties of tulips.

Hi Ken,

Wow, great photo. I love the colors here, and how you frame it with nice even rows, very good pattern. I like the focus here, I also think it would be interesting to see the same shot with very deep DOF. Well done, thanks for sharing!

Great colors and composition. I especially like the really saturated red row in front. I like the DOF of this shot. It works well.

Nice DoF at 6.0 on those purple tulips. The colors are gorgeous.
