It's been nearly 4 years since I visited Alaska and since that time I have posted 44 pictures. Today as I ponder my upcoming return to that place I am reviewing the products of my past visit.
This is a previously unshared photograph of the Matanuska River. This shot is a short distance from where the glacier ends, as the river falls away towards the west. The glacier is the largest glacier accessible by car in the state. It is located just off the Glenn Highway from Anchorage approximately 2 hrs distant.

Awesome shot Ned!
Amazing detail and clarity- how do you get the shots soooo sharp? (hope you don't say Nikon vs. Canon ;-P)
Excellent tonal levels with just the right amount of exposure to ensure pure white clouds etc. Having the river slightly off centre makes for a cood compo.
Awesome stuff Ned!

This composition reminds me of a signature shot of a South Pacific island, for a movie. The detail and the definition is excruciating. It makes you wonder, with just two major colors , green and blue, and a smattering of whites, a landscape can be this good. You just can't wait to go there again Ned. Pretty understandable.

Great shot! These Alaska mountains just go straight up from low elevations and go over 10,000'. This is a gorgeous photo which does a great job of showing the heigth and depth of this terrain. The clouds around the top of the peak add drama to the image. Well done!

Wow, this one is breathtaking! I love the POV with the river drawing the eye into the photo. The colors are beautiful and I especially like the way that mountain is shrouded by clouds. Great shot!! Good wishes,

A beautiful landscape photo with very nice colors. The compo is very good with the river on the right and the mountains on the left.
What kind of PP did you do to the river as it looks like it has been lifted a bit from the banks. Did you add a lot of contrast there?
Well done though,

Stunning view of this wild unspoiled river valley surrouned by lush green forest. The sky is wonderful as its clouds gather around the high snow capped peak. The colors are bright and the details wonderfuly sharp. I would love to put a canoe in this river and paddle the day away.

Stunning landscape, Ned. The composition, with the river wending toward the horizon, is so inviting. Let's grab a canoe and go see where it takes us :) The clouds cresting the peaks and those vivid greens are great, too. TFS.
