Montecello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, sits on a rather large hill overlooking the city of Charlettesville. It was the product of Jefferson's self-taught architectural abilities and had quite a number of interesting features including a dumb waiter to the wine cellar. He designed the home to be funtional. He is buried just down the hill from his home.
Commodore Uriah P. Levy, the first Jewish officer in the US Navy and the great reformer of the Naval service, also owned the house and it stayed in the Levy family until it was made a park. |

Hi Michael,
Very good shot, and welcome to TE, I'm not sure why you haven't had more feedback on this photo yet, but that seems to be the way it goes on here sometimes. This is a good record photo of Thomas Jefferson's home. I like the way you have included the flowers in the foreground to add colour and interest.
Well done
Chris
