Photographer’s Note
The wooden bridge in the foreground is part of a raised walkway that lets you see the marsh without damaging it. The large bridge in the distance is the Dunbarton. It's tall enough to allow an ocean going vessel to sail underneath. It conects Palo Alto, actually East Palo Alto, on the west side of the San Francisco Bay with Fremont on the east side. The previous bridge was at sea level and when ships went through it caused huge traffic problems when the bridge was raised.
i like the contrast between the two structures both of which are smooth curves. but one of which is huge and made of concrete and steel while the other is small and made mainly of wood.

Hello Tom,
J’aime beaucoup le cadrage sur ce joli petit pont en bois. L’arrière plan est également intéressant dans la composition.
Bien à toi et bonne soirée,
Robert

Hello Tom -
Very interesting image to incorporate a wooden look alike bridge on the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge with the Dumbarton Bridge in the background. I hate to tell you this but it's Newark that the bridge connects with East Palo Alto. You may make your bridge approach through Fremont salt marshes but the first city on the east side is Newark, always has been. OBTW, my home town!
Thanks for sharing
John

Hello Tom,
Very good idea and good image mixing old and oderne, neat and blurred, vertical and horizontal. The difference beetween both buildings is obvious, but the function so near, at some years difference.
Good idea and nice realisation, congratulations.
Best regards, Christian

Hi Tom,
I also like the contrast between the two bridges. While they serve a similar purpose they are very different. In addition to the contrast I like how the photo is focused more on the bridge in the forground leaving the large bridge and the rest of background slightly out of focus or at least a little fuzzy. Is this a result of the aperature being set at F/11? I am guessing that it must be. The 1/640 shutter speed seems like it would have produced a very clear or sharp shot throughout the entire image. Anyway, it is a supurb shot.
TFS,
Rob
