Photographer’s Note

The wooden bridge in the foreground is part of a raised walkway that lets you see the marsh without damaging it. The large bridge in the distance is the Dunbarton. It's tall enough to allow an ocean going vessel to sail underneath. It conects Palo Alto, actually East Palo Alto, on the west side of the San Francisco Bay with Fremont on the east side. The previous bridge was at sea level and when ships went through it caused huge traffic problems when the bridge was raised.

i like the contrast between the two structures both of which are smooth curves. but one of which is huge and made of concrete and steel while the other is small and made mainly of wood.
