Mill Creek II
Mill Creek Basin Trail .. Hollowell Park .. Rocky Mountain National Park.
This is 60% a repost of this image.
I had a tough time choosing between the two so I thought I would post this one finally .. the point of view is shifted over to the right .. To me the image is similar with a very different feel .. the earlier post has better water .. a great deal of energy .. this one has much more of a feeling of peace to me.
ruthlessly pasted from my previous post "Autumn Water" :
I have posted a number of images from this place .. see the autumn theme to the left ..
It is one of my favorite haunts in any season but especially in autumn ..
The trail following bumbling little Mill Creek is surrounded by thick stands of aspen .. The aspen took over this swatch of forest when the earlier trees were logged to build many of the historic buildings in Estes Park .. In autumn you can spot the trail half way across the park as a belt of gold on the distant hillside ..
It is also one of the most quiet trails in the park .. there is no real destination on it .. it is part of a connecting system that joins some of the more popular trails ..

Hello John -
A very lovely image. Exposure looks to be spot on and the veiling of the water is perfect. There is great DOF in the image with everything being sharp front to back. Well done!
Thank you for sharing

Wow. Great shot. I like it better than the previous one - the one preceding this. The natural arrangement of stones, DOF, lighting, POV are just marvelous. The rock on the left just draws you into the scene. Regards. Latiff.

Hi John,
nice capture of the creek with warm colours. I like water running through stones and on your ones I hear the water and I smell the humidity.

Hello John,
Without a doubt this image conveys a feeling of peace solitude, compared with the "Alberta Falls Awakened" (if that is the one you refer to in your note). The time exposure makes the water appear especially immobile, and yet a very fast exposure would have frozen the droplets in the air -- an entirely different feeling and yet a complementary effect. In distinction to the water here, the stones appear so well defined and sharp.
Very nice shot! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hi John,
I like both this and the previous image of Mill Creek. The latest a wider angle showing the soft flow of water and its dark surrounding overgrowth....the previous a closeup giving an almost patchwork expression of the mixture of wood, leaves and stone.I do like the use of the long exposures.Very relaxing....TFS.

Hi John, yup, sometimes less is more. I like your repost better. This is excellent the way you've captured good light throughout this scene and set up a wash effect with the various waterfalls. The fallen colour leaves give a very mellow fall effect. Very nice.
Thanks, John

Hello John,
Good point of view on the creek!
What I like are the small signs of autumn, yellow leaves on the rocks, dry straws...
A well composed image, where backlight brightens the colours present!

Hi John,
I also like the older post, but maybe it is quicker to like this one, because it looks more neatly composed.
It's a wonderful photo with that nice motion blur on the water, the graphicality of the rocks and the different tones of green and yellow of the vegetation. I like the scattered fallen leaves on the rocks and that shining yellow branch on one of the "golden points" of the image.
Regards, José.

Wonderfully composed scene John. I really like all the little details like the aspen leaves and the moss on the rocks. The colors are beautiful with just a hint of orange and yellow in the upper right hand corner.
Take care,
Ryan

John,
This is a great shot of this steam. The long exposure creates a great effect with the water. The high f-stop setting gives us great sharpness and DOF. The lighting and colors are great with excellent detail.
