[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in Seal Rock, Oregon.

I have been a bit obsessed with lighting in black and white photos lateley and was taking some photos of this beautiful place where you will find a colony of seals lounging around on the rocks. The best time to go to this particular beach is at low tide. There are amazing tidepools where you will find all kinds of sea life hanging out. It also is a great place to witness baby seals sunning on the beach waiting for their mothers to bring back something to eat.

Please remember to keep your distance from the baby seals on the beach. If you get to close or touch them their mother will abandon them. If you see a an injured animal on the beach just contact the local animal control and they will handle the injured animal. Just a friendly reminder from your neighborhood beachcomber.

Take Care All!

This particular photo was taken around 4pm and straight into the sun. Amazing what digital cameras will allow!

Hiu Bettina!
This is a beautiful picture! Congratulations!
There´s a nice contrast and the b&w looks great. I like specially the sun reflecting on the wet sand. It is a pity it is a little bit tight, something easy to correct. Anyway, this is a very nice work!
Regards,
Zeca

Wow, nice shot! I like the simplicity of this, with the sun, the ocean and the rocks in perfect balance. Great reflection off the water too, giving a nice highlight to counter balance the sun. Well done!

Hi Bettina. Very fine result with this B&W. This image is really powerful and has good instant appeal. Well presented. Murray.

Hi Bettina
Stuning effects we can achieve with bracketing - an old pro-photographer trick from the days of film photography varying the exposure a little in each shot. Most of the photos will probably be throwaways, but if you aren't sure what the right exposure is, one of the shots should be just right. Well this is one perfect underexposed (how many EVs?). I know ...
wWhat I'm seeing is the sun - not the moon...

This one's simple but just nicely captured. I bet the impact would not be the same if this were taken in color. Very nice. :)

Hi Betty
It's a very well b&w picture.. Usually TE's Friends sent many sunset or sunrise theme in colour, but your picture is different and I like it alot. Nice try and TFS.

best regards
daniel

Hi Bettina. Great photo. I love the textures you have captured in the sand and water. Excellent PP, the contrast range is great. Well composed and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.
