Rainbow Falls, Hilo, Island of Hawai'i

Rainbow Falls is in a small park on the outskirts of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawai'i. This is a very beautiful park along the Wailuku River. If we had been at the park in the morning when the sun was shinning there would have been a rainbow over this waterfall but as you see here it is lunch time and it is trying to rain. Off to the left is a pair of smaller falls from the same river, please see my post from yesterday for a more detailed look. As we were preparing to leave it started to drizzle but by the time we were seated at our restaurant for lunch a downpour began.

Hello John,

You have captured a truely peacful setting. Your composition is spot on with the photo framed by the natural branches of the trees. Overall an excellent photograph!

Regards,
David...

Nicely composed shot John, great detail in the rocks surrounding the falls and good foreground interest using the foliage, just a tad overexposed IMO .. but not enough to detract from a fine capture

Hello John,

Great shot! I saw this site in 1992, from the very same spot. And as the great physicist Werner Heisenberg once pronounced, "Never underestimate how much pleasure it give a man to see/hear what he already knows." Well it is a pleasure to see this site again. I visited your posting from yesterday, and to be sure, I will go back to critique it soon.

Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi John, A great capture of some beautiful falls, the water looks fantastic, brilliant exposure, sharp with great light & magnificent framing, kind regards Wilson.

Hello John
A nice place.. looks like a paradise:)

Quite stunning. Great capture of the falls; I like how you included both the big one as the main focus and the smaller one on the side. Nice and peaceful...

Beautiful capture of these falls John. There's a great texture to it. You've done great to capture the shadow detail behind the falls and the ripples in water, even with the longer exposure.

Thanks, John

Hi John,
Your perspective is all important here, with the multiple falls well seen. From what I was told by locals, it is rare to see a full day of sunshine in the Hilo area and each time I have set out for these Falls I was deterred by weather. You made the most of the lighting conditions. The limited focal area keeps attention riveted to this bucolic scene. Well captured.

Hi John,

Beautiful POV .. I love the composition of the near leaf .. but really it is the soft meditative tones and light .. the understated saturation levels .. that get me ... creates a gentle impression of this majestic place.

take care,

John

Hi John,
Beautiful little waterfalls! Very good POV and depth. Well done.
Ahmet

John,
I love waterfalls and you gave me with this one exactly what my eyes needed to see. The POV and composition are awesome. I wish you would have had better light conditions. It seems to be flat.
My dream is once to get to Hawaii and see all these natural wonders that I only know from pictures. Did also get some volcanic activity pictures during this trip?

Hi John,

I like your POV and the composition of the image.
