Photographer’s Note

Mission San José, San Antonio, Texas

One of the five Spanish missions in the San Antonio area. These missions were founded in the early 19th century, where in contrast to the California mission system which began in the last third of the 18th century. Both mission systems were founded on the same principals and by the same religious order. Only one of the Texas missions gained any notoriety, The Alamo. From the Alamo, in downtown San Antonio, south the missions are; Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada. The US Park Service had taken over administration of the four missions south of the Alamo for preservation. The four missions are still parish churches and mass is said everyday.

Since this was a scan I had a lot of noise introduced into the beautiful blue sky and I used Neat Image v5.6 to reduce the noise.
