The queen and the lady, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

The Queen Mary 2 finally arrived at New York, after braving a serious gale on the way, and the whole city was very excited. I missed its arrival - there was a beautiful ceremony with the coast guard and water display with tugs...
So I read she was going to pass near the Statue of Liberty at around 5pm. I brought the camera to the office, and was planning on going down to Battery Park at about this time and take some photos. At about 1pm we were told she's on her way... luckily enough, the office I was working for (today was my last day there...) has a great view, and I could capture this photo.
So I couldn't choose the best angle, the shot was taken through a window and it was a VERY hazy day... still wanted to bring you all the photo and the story...

Well done Liora, under difficult circumstances! I'm pleased you posted it because we don't usually see the Statue of Liberty in much context. The ship is an impressive bonus.

I like this one a lot, Liora. The Queen Mary 2 is claiming appropriate attention in your composition, and I like how it is surrounded by some distinctive NYC elements. Compared to the smaller boats and vessels you captured around, one can really imagine the imposing size of the QM2. Great scene, well done.

Nice shot! I could be biased because I love ships, but your title is enough to captivate!
By the way, are you American bred and raised? I ask that because your English is almost too good to be a native-born Yankee...ha!
