Washington Heights in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the front entrance to a house is on the first floor, the back entrance on the third floor. Further up, via the incline, is a view of the downtown, the three rivers, and the stadium named after them. But it's neighborhoods like the one shown here that give the city its character. Improbably to those unfortunates who haven't visited it, Pittsburgh was described by Brendan Gill as one of the three most beautiful cities in the world. Photogravure etching printed with Burnt Umber ink on Lana Gravure etching paper.
The other two beautiful cities? Paris, France and St Petersburg, Russia.
