Lyons Overlook - Roxborough State Park.
This is from Andrew's (and my) walk this weekend in Roxborough State Park just South of Denver. This is a similar kind of place to "Garden of the Gods" city park in Colorado Springs. I have been searching for some more places to go in the foothills .. and this is one of my recent discoveries. You get a sense of the scale of the place from the path.
I struggled with this image a bunch. Bright early afternoon behind all
sorts of different clouds .. I also struggled with all the ridiculous housing developments just behind and around the park .. progress????

I think this shot is just superb. The sky is incredible, very dramatic. Maybe you could have captured a bit more of it, but on the otherside you lose the details in the lower regions. The trees there adding some nice green tones. The composition is good, the rock on the left nicely closes the image there, forcing the eye to look along it on the right side. Good details and dark colours. Nice work.
Thanks for sharing.

Great shot John!
I really love the colors you brought out and your composition! In reading your note, I almost felt like I was readng a part of "zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance". Great book! Good luck with your hikes and trying to avoid the progression of civilization in the mountains!

This landscape is absolutely beautiful, and the perspective its very interesting. Seeing the thumbnail, it seems dark, but at full size it's possible appreciate that the light is just the aprropriate. The dark and menacing sky is wonderful and dramatic, and the rocks forms incredible. The soft light enhances the mystery. Beautiful! And no, I think is not progress, invade all places available! Regards,

Very warm soft colors that give this photo a dreamy look. The clouds and low light makes for a si-fi feel like in a Twilight Zone episode.

This is another amazing shot of yours. I now known of something absolutely amazing that I want to see when I go to Denver (in addition to the baseball park, neighborhoods, etc.), and that's this Roxborough State Park. The amber-reddish rocks and looming clouds are beautiful, and they definitely provide a sense of scale to the trail below. This is truly a great image.
