Photographer’s Note
Just before dawn at Lake Mitchell. Mitchell, South Dakota.
This is where I grew up. My dad is a historian and archeologist. In
the early 1970s he excavated a prehistoric probably pre Mandan village
on the lake. Now there is a major dig on the site .. but a good portion of the site goes under this man made lake. The burial grounds are under the local golf course .. which is why it has such nice rolling hills (sarcasm). I guess we call all this progress.
The color was not working .. so I went B/W .. but that was even more bland so I tried this tinting.
For really bizarre coincidences .. In July I was here and I took a similar picture with a different stick in the lake at this same place. .. that log is now gone .. but a new one was there????????

Hi John,
Very dreamy and relaxing image here with the slow shutter speed. The floating limb give nice scale to this interesting photo.

I just spotted this in your randome images John. I like the tint which, along with the soft flatteing of the water's surface really does give the feeling of peaceful pre-dawn. Very nice work.
