Sunset as seen from the Empire State Building, New York City.
I realise the image is not as sharp as I would have like, but due to the amount of people I couldn't use my tripod and it was a very cold and windy day at the end of November.
The tower rises to 1,250 feet (381 m) at the 102nd floor, and its full structural height (including broadcast antenna) reaches 1,472 feet (448 m). It was the first building to have more than 100 floors.
It remained the tallest skyscraper in the world for a record 41 years (and the world's tallest man-made structure for 23 years) until the construction of the World Trade Center, and shortly afterwards the Sears Tower. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Empire State Building regained the title of tallest building in New York City, and the 2nd tallest building in the United States.
The building has 6,500 windows, 73 elevators and 1,860 steps to the top floor, but I took the lift!
Movies and TV programmes featuring the Empire State Building include;
King Kong, James and the Giant Peach, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Love Affair, An Affair to Remember, Sleepless In Seattle, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Independence Day, Godzilla: Final Wars, Elf, Futurama, Transformers, The Day after Tomorrow, The Time Machine....the list goes on.
After all, it is an amazing building to visit!

What a great view of NY!. I like the POV and the way the image is splitted in 2 parts vertically because of the large avenue, and then horizontally because of the river.
Only one regret, the image is not sharp enough perhaps you did move a little during exposure?.

For me the first city of the world: New York City. A nice capture. Is that Hudson River and New Jersey in the background behind the water? Wonderful all these lights.

Nice view from NY the big illuminated city. Despite the lack of sharpness it gives a good idea about the atmosphere of this place.

This is a good time of day to take photos from the Empire State Building. The #1 at One Penn Plaza seems to be washed out. I wish that you could have put more technical information. For example f-stop, ISO and shutter speed. Was the lens on auto focus? Sometimes on this type of photos it is better to manual focus because the camera will always focus on infinity and for some reasons the whole shot is soft.
I know it is an expensive place and long annoying lines but you should go back and bring the tripod. Don't be the type of guy that says "Been there done that".

Excellent night picture!
I specially like the symmetry of it having that skyscraper as a main reference and the colors of the sunset.
