Photographer’s Note
Location: The mountain on the left is Cascade and the snow capped mountain in the distance is Provo Peak.
About the Photo: The sky was cloudy, and there was no sunlight breaking through when I started taking pictures here about 45 minutes earlier, but as the sun got lower in the sky it finally ducked underneath the cloud cover illuminating the mountains for about 10 minutes before it set.
Focal length: 10mm
Other filter: Hitech ND Grad 0.3 soft

Hello Ryan,
Nice autumn landscape shot.

Is that snow on the background mountain or stones ?
Greetings.

Hello Ryan ! This takes my breath away ... nothing but nature, pure and wild. Wonderful colors, like the bit of snow on the tops, winter is coming ... Greetings from Zurich, Barbara.

Hello Ryan! Very nice shot! I couldn't resist but with your title I had to put this in the "Song Titles" theme. I was a big fan of Big Country". Hope you don't mind too much ;)
Anyway, I very much like how you are exploring using shadows here to heighten the drama of the composition. And you used the graduated filter expertly to maintain good detail and color in those shadows as well. It's very nice image to look at!

Doug

Hello Ryan,
What wonderful picture ! Colors are really nice. The long exposure gives a very good structure at the sky. Really good composition !

Hi Ryan,
Impressionnant shot! The sun gives very warm colours, contrasting well with the oniric sky. What I like in your framing is the fact you've chosen to put the snowy mountains in the centre, that rather catches the eyes.

Amazing light in this shot! When the sun pops out from under the clouds like that you can get some great light, with very dramatic results, like in this shot. I really like the saturated colors too. Great work!

Wow, spectacular light, Ryan! Nothing like low sunlight coming in under clouds to create drama. Nice use of the dead tree, too. Truly beautiful! Regards, Ken.

Very nice. Great how you held everything in check. Would like to know how you post process this file. You keep the colors alive yet they appear natural. I would like the dead branch to be brought out just a little more. Great photo. Great eye.

A wonderful fall image. I like the colors and shadows on the mountains. The ridges, valleys and light-shadow patterns form a perfect guidance to be drawn into the landscape. Maybe a tack too much contrast.

Ryan, I remember well these colors when I've been around in US. Great combination of fall colors and snowy peaks. It is so much easier for you to take such a fantastic shots as the nature around you is absolutely outstanding (but of course you've got the eye to see the beauty around you :)) Well done. Lucie

Hey Ryan!
A very impressive gallery you have here in TE! I was surprised to sea it only now...
Very nice composition, the silhouette of the log propped on the right, the clouds cascading into the depth of the picture, with lovely colors and contrast of autumn at the high Rocky mountains. Exposure control is just on spot, getting details both in shade and light...
Well taken!
Will be following your posts!
