Photographer’s Note
A view of Waimea Canyon on Kauai. Taken from the side of the road to Kokee, where the road almost falls into the canyon. The waterfall is Waipoo Falls. Late afternoon light brings out some interesting shapes and shadows, as well as the remarkable colours of rock and vegetation. Every bit of rock you see here is basalt lava, erupted as thousands of lava flows over thousands of years.
Scanned from a slide. Polariser used to bring out the colours.

Hello Vincent,
It's not so often we have pictures from Hawaii on TE. This one is excellent. I really like the mix of colors. The cloudy sky makes some beautiful shadows on the ground and the sharpness is also perfect.
Best regards, Laurent.

Hi Vincent,
The different layers of colour in the mountains looks incredibly beautiful. The shadows of the clouds adds lots of character to the photo. I like it. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers,
Debbie

I love this picture. It's like the Grand Canyon but green. I also love all the shadows from the clouds and the waterfall. I made it a favorite long ago. TFS.
