Inspiration Point on Anacapa Island looking west.

Anacapa is part of the Channel Islands National Park located about 10 miles west of Ventura off the California Coast. The little islands you see to the left and the distant center are actually part of Anacapa. So Anacapa itself is really a small chain of islands. The other main larger islands that make up the
park are farther to the west and aren't visible in this photo.

I went to Anacapa for an overnight camping trip. It is a small island (about a mile long) and on the night I camped only about 8 people stayed over. So it can really feel like you have the island to yourself.

Anacapa is a great place to kayak, snorkel and scuba dive. It's also a breeding ground for Western Gulls, so it's a great place to see and photograph shore birds. I hope to post a more pictures from this trip in the days ahead.

Up until I took this shot there wasn't much color at this view as a solid low-lying marine layer of clouds blocked the sun. But as the sun started to finally drop below the clouds, the scene warmed up a little. I used a warming polarizer and a 3 stop neutral densisty graduated color filter for this.

Doug this is very inspirational. I love the colors of this compo. The PoV right above the cliffs, the streak of the sun on the water, and the whole mood of this picture make me dream of places I would love to visit someday. Very nice work :-)
