Photographer’s Note

This is the new covered bridge in Ford Field Park. I stopped in on my way somewhere and this pattern caught my attention.

The river here is the Rouge River, a branch of the same river that runs by Henry Ford's mansion.

As I explained to Kaj in a reply Dearborn is marked with the omnipresent nature of Ford, Henry Ford's hometown its headquarters. You can play here in Ford Field or across town at Ford Woods down Ford Road.

If you prefer to read a book you can check one out from the Henry Ford Centennial Library and then later that evening catch a performance or use the swimming pool at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center next door. And if you injure yourself while swimming you can run over to the Henry Ford Hospital.

If you want to do some shopping you can do that at Fairlane Mall or Fairlane Meadows, named for Ford's estate.

If history is more your taste you can go to Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum now known as “The Henry Ford”. It’s the most exhaustive collection of all things Americana collected by Henry Ford.

You can attend numerous elementary schools named for Ford family members and then go to either Fordson High School, on Ford Road, or Edsel Ford High School, on Rotunda named for Ford's former Rotunda showcase exhibit. And if you wish to stay in the city for post secondary education there is also Henry Ford Community College.

After all that you can get a job at one of the numerous Ford buildings including the Henry Ford II World Center or Ford River Rouge factory or engineering complex. And once you retire you can take it easy in the Henry Ford Village Retirement complex.

There are numerous other uses of the name in the city and they own at least 10 per cent of the land so we grumble sometimes but it is a very beneficial relationship.
