Photographer’s Note
Walking around, I couldn't resist this shooting a few photos as I walked past a girl and her friends, chatting and having a good time.
A personal note: Utah has a population that is nearly 80% caucasian. I feel it is refreshing to get to know and enjoy folks of all societies and cultures (and colors). I find my perspectives are widened, I see and enjoy new ways of looking at the world and its beauties and challenges. So as the minority population of Utah increases, and I hope it does, I think we in Utah will become stronger for it. So I hope it isn't too preachy to simply enjoy life, the world, and its many and varied peoples.

Hi David! Very nice capture, I am surprised to see that's from Utah. Usually we expect red rock landscapes that part of the US, so it makes this all the more interesting too me. I like the blurred effect of your background.

A lovely candid shot, David - what a gorgeous smile! Love your choice of b&w, your tight crop and your ability to resist over-sharpening:) Great work, and a great title too.

Hi David. I like the tight composition as it brings a certain amount of intimacy to the shot. B/W was a good choice and the blur around her face looks natural and I like it. Well done David.

Hi David
This is an excellent capture of a natural smile. The pov is particularly interesting as I think it enhances the effect of the smile. I'm not sure about the blur around the girl's shoulders it seems a little out of sync with the overall effect of the picture. However, overall a striking shot and nicely cropped. Good work.

Hello David,
Charming and cute model, well framed!
Your point of view makes this interesting, showing happiness and spontanious joy...
Still, for some reason I feel contrasty B&W work well here...

Hi David, a good candid portrait of the girl. The tight cropping works well to put the attention at her delighted expression, and the b&w gives you a beautiful tonal range.

Hi David
Your interesting POV does enhance the effect of the smile..the cropping is excellent & so to is the sharpness of her face, but that's in contrast with the motion blur around her shoulders, which I'm not very sure in terms of appeal. But a really nice shot in B&W

Hi David,
A superb close-up of this jovial woman. The lighting is superb, with great shadow effects. She seems to be modestly timid of the camera, yet perhaps enjoyng it too. The tight cropping and intimate look really gives high impact to the shot. A keeper.

Hello David
Now here is a perspective of simple joy and happiness that one rarely see in a photo.
Although my first impression might be that the cutting/cropping isn't very fitting, the more I look at it, the better it gets.
Lovely sharp focus on her face, the background is beautifully blurred slightly it works perfectly.

Hi David, interesting portrait of a smile from above. I usually like your b/w works and I think it also works very well here. The composition is perfect and her face really stands out from the surrounding black hair.

Hello David.
A superb portrait. This picture is so full of life it's bursting from the frame. Although it is in B&W (I think an excellent choice) the photo is just bursting with color. The blur of the area around her face adds a wonderful sense of movement that helps bring this young woman to life.
Excellent.

Chris.

Hi David,
The excellent detail of this lovely smile drew me to this photo; you can see the perfect focus from the thumbnail. The framing is perfect as well.
You're right, diversity does make life more interesting. The lookig down as she laughs is such a feminie, oriental woman gesture. How interesting to move from the teeming emmigrant masses of Southern California to to the relative homogenity of Utah.

Hello David
Although I am not addict to make photos in black and white, consider that this portrait is warm, full of life, clearness, frame and contrasts. A perfect approach and an excellent work.
