Photographer's Note
While visiting friends in Montana, I went along while fresh hay was being taken to the winter pasture. While the way was being cleared of snow to deliver the hay, it didn't take long for these siblings to show up eagerly anticipating fresh feed. I think you can see by their intense gaze that they are eager for the fresh fodder being delivered.
Update:
I've since learned the names of these two horses, for anyone curious. The one in the forground is Misty and her baby brother behind her is Bridger.

Dear Ned, that one went directly into my favourites :) Great colour contrast (horses and background), both are perfectly sharp in good focus, very good details. Good placing of them for a good composition :) Thanks for sharing :) Yours, Jan

Great pic this. The details on the horses are great and use of DOF perfect witj good crop. I've been taking some of wild horses lately - they are always rewarding. Nice to see some in a different environment. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that must be one of the best horse photos I have seen. The intelligence of the animals beams out at the viewer. And the winter colours and the background are amazing. Very good dof, and very nice cropping. I was looking for traces of their breath fom their nostrils, but I can't see any. Well, you can't have everything.

I hope they enjoyed their hay! I think it's hard to photograph horses well. This is great, so sharp, good dof, and a wonderful pose by these two lovely intelligent creatures.

What a beautiful pair. The texture of their fur is unbeliveable, as are the colors. Great angle too, and very sharp. I could see this in a nice, but simple frame in my office wall. Very pretty.
