Hi Skye,

This is very good street photo. I love the expressions of these muslim women and DOF you've used. The thing I like most here are those policemen in the background... It reminds us that we're being watched by the police and government all the time and that there is less and less freedom given to us. Freedom is taken from us under lofty banners of protection and security... Moreover, some ethnic minorities have been branded by such policy and they suffer from prejudices and hatred nowadays... Not all Muslims are terrorists... we have to remember this.

Bien vue cette compo.
J'aime bien ton choix de cadrage avec cette femme et cette fille sur la droite, et l'ouverture sur ces policiers sur la gauche.
On voit les yeux de la femme qui sourient avec ce regard posé sur toi. La petite fille semble plus pensive voir meme triste et j'adore la position de sa tete en direction de la partie vide.
Les policiers derrières, super sérieux, tel des cow-boys...un contraste très intéressant.
Ton n/b aursit pu être un peu plus contrasté par contre.

Wow Skye.
Your composition here is excellent. The two individuals flanked by police, quite dramatic. The gazes of the two add very nicely to your comp; one looks off the frame while the other addresses the camera. Good choice of B&W.
Very thoughtful.

Hi Skye, I had no idea you came to post again lately, so happy to discover your latest photography. This one shot is quite unique, even though I do not read too much in it, or as much as your note says! :-)

To me,I see that the cops are not there to curb their rights as human beings, no "morals and behaviour" brigade here. Sonehow I find they all fit together in this american street scene.

the black and white here is a bit grey
maybe not enough contrat
and your frame is a bit disturbing

Interesting composition, Skye - it's one into which you can read all sorts of different interpretations. I like the shallow DOF but the piece of paper (or whatever it is) that the girl in the front is holding intrudes on the composition unfortunately. Cheers . . . David
