Photographer’s Note

Winter is almost over here in Cache Valley. I shot this just the other day and liked it. This is a fun place. The Little Bear river meanders around my valley and finally ends up in the Bear River. In this area, folks like me like to go canoeing and bird watching. Some like to fish, too.

It was very near this site that the Great Rendezvous of 1823 took place at about this time of year. Native Americans from many tribes: Shoshone, Blackfoot, Ute and other tribes, pioneers, and trappers all came for a grand time of trading, drinking, competitions, telling stories, and feasting. Cache Valley is so called because fur trappers cached their furs here until they could move them all at once for trading.

Now we can all rendezvous here on TE! Pass the root beer someone!

[Darren mentioned the lack of a polarizing filter, and I usually use one, but I just couldn't find it! Grrrr. Someone in my family used the camera, took it off, and lost it! I'm not sure I would use it here anyway. It might deepen the blues, but I so like the bright, crystaline blues in this image, too.]
