Hi Halgier,
Yes, this is a nice photo, the sepia concep is good, you made the composition just to ajust the situation as long time ago.
Thanks for sharing

Hi halgeir
Absolute 'shot' in the right time. All the smoke is fine for the effect anf the lifted arms of the gunners sure adds to the action. Good choice to have it in BW/sepia.. and a white frame is ok (but could have been a bit slimmer)

Great catch, the sepia tone enchance the historical feeling you want to give, only if that arm on the right wasn't there..Nevertheless great photo!

Going historical are we?
This photo works very well with the sepia tone, really timeless.
Quality seems good, sharp details and the entire was captured at just the right moment.
Thank you for sharing.

Hei Halgeir,
Sepia tone well chosen... and the only one possible, I should think!
Scenery well framed (except for the head popping up) in a good diagonal composition, action well captured!

A picture full of noise and furur, but fortunatly this is only a reenactment. Again, techoice of sepia is a good idea to put us in the mood of the past. The smoke of gun powder is very impressive. Perhaps a little crop to get rid of the two modern people in the right bottom corner ?
All the best,
Emmanuel
Hi again Halgeir,
I have a friend who would LOVE to be a part of this scene! It's great that the battles of history are being remembered in such a way rather than being soley the subject of history books.
This pic is nicely composed and detail is really great. I also think you've got the light just about right here. I admire your choice of using sepia tones for the same reasons you chose them. Even though the battle was re-enacted in recent times, the pic would look good in a history book!
Excellent work.
Hugs,
Tony

Hi Halgeir,
Its been a while since our paths crossed so I had a look at some of your latest pictures and decided to comment on this one.I like the scene and its decisive moment with the smoke billowing and movement of the soldiers. The sephia effect is a suitable one to send us back in time but I think the image could be more powerful if you had avoided the foreground characters at right.A good experiment...interesting.Keep well.

Good choice of changing this to sephia to match the era of the reenactment. I like the smoke and the gestures of the people which shows some action is taking place.

Thanks to the sepia colours it looks like a photo of the actual battle! I think You could've cropped the grass at the bottom, the head appearing in the lower-right corner is unneccesary...

Hi Halgeir,
It looks like a scene in a "North & South" movie and the old colors bring us back to 1860s. I like the commander standing against the smoke.

Hello Halgeir,
You bet, the sepia tones really worked for this subject, I couldnt in all conscious think of it another way. It gives a time warped feeling to the actions that are taking place. Living here in Japan I re-enacted the battle of Sekigahara and the feeling of wearing and acting out battles is quite remarkable. One could only imagine the mindset of the participants as they wage war for real or as a mock story.
Thanks for sharing this little piece of history (regardless of it being taken in 1999 - haha)

Hi Halgeir-
Actually, the Battle of PEa Ridge too place on the Arkansas/Missouri border in 1862. It was known as the Gettysburg of the West because it ended the South's military activity in that part of the country. The photo does a good job of capturing an American Civil War feeling. Great job.
Cheers,
Baron
