Photographer’s Note
This is taken at low tide on the shore of Murphy's Inlet at Shell Island on the north end of Wrightsville Beach, NC. These shells were pumped from the ocean bottom in order to rebuild the beach after a hurricane in 1986 opened up an inlet a new inlet.
I was struck by the rich texture and colors of the broken shells.

Intersting assmbley.. almost an abstract picture. Any idea why the sand is so black?

This is a nice collection of shells and your clear detail allows one to kind of peruse them to see the different kinds. Is the sand dark because it is the deep water sand that was pumped up? The angle you used almost makes me a little dizzy, since the lines of the shore are going diagonally down to the left. I wonder how it would look from closer to the ground, and angled over their tops.
