Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken on the Washington State side of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. On the opposite side is Vancouver Island of Canada.

The Strait of Juan de Fuca is the principal outlet for the Georgia Strait and Puget Sound, connecting both to the Pacific Ocean. It provides part of the International Boundary between the United States and Canada. It was named in 1788 by the English Captain John Meares of the ship Felice for Juan de Fuca, the Greek sailor who claimed to have gone on a voyage with Spanish explorers in 1592 to seek the fabled Strait of Anián.

The United States Geological Survey defines the Strait of Juan de Fuca as a channel.

Here you see a cruise ship likely heading for Victoria, BC or Seattle, WA.

Hi Tim,
I am little bit surprise to see those trees on the rock but its look good, normally I have seen these type of shots Indonesia, Philippines or Vietnam. Thanks for sharing this. Trees on the left & right works as natural frame & looks good. I like your detail.

Wow you have me quite curious as to where this shot was taken from. The rocks and trees look amazing. Next time I might try taking a smidge off of the top, but besides that this is an amazing photo.
