Photographer’s Note
I was crossing a small wooden bridge in the countryside when I saw this small sign being eaten by the tree. The branches on the left are distracting and the composition isn't perfect, but I was standing on one leg, holding onto a fence post and shooting with one hand. The sign is supposed to read "No Dumping - $200 fine"; I think they have a problem with some people dumping trash off of the bridge.

Obviously mother nature is taking control of the situation. The picture is OK to me because the meaning of it is easy to catch and sometimes conditions are not perfect. But a good photograph will see good occasions and that's what you did.

Very nice view, Stephen. I have added your pic to the theme Ents still live - though everyone knows that Ents do not eat solid food, I could not resist :-D
Hope you don't mind.

Great photo for a horror movie 'Revenge of the Trees'. This is the first time I have seen something like this. Thanks for sharing it with TE.

I think they have a problem with people shooting at the sign. Does everyone in Texas really carry a gun?
Interesting photo, I don`t think I`ve seen anything like this before. Picture looks a bit flat, I think it could be livened up by adjusting levels and saturating colour a little. Well spotted though.

Great subject! It's a good capture of an unusual sight - and amazing, after reading how you took the photo! You and your little digital are expert photo opportunity finders. :)
As for nit-picky details - I would maybe have allowed more room around the sign, perhaps allowing the distracting branch to become less distracting in a wider scene. (?) I also may have allowed a bit of brightening, since the subject is a little dull under the branches.
Oh, the Entish trees don't think much of men's metal and waste, do they? ;)

What an incredible and unusual sight, Stephen. This is a very good shot, more of a documentary-style contribution of nature reclaiming what's supposed to be hers. Kudos to your photographer's eye for spotting this opportunity!
I'm attaching a workshop where I tried a bit of a dramatization. Hope you'll like it!

He he, this is a funny one. Never seen anything like it. Thanks for sharing. I think it's a ok pic. It just needs to be a bit sharper. Did a WS for you. Hope you like it. :)

Wow, Stephen, you certainly have a keeper with this one! I really don't know what I can say that would be any different than what has been pointed out here.
I really do love the environmental aspect of this shot, obviously, the no dumping is a major issue. However, the tree consuming the metal man made "garbage" that was attached to it, is quite a sight!
Very well seen and documented!

In radiology, it looks like it is a beautiful thighbone and a little bit disproportionate kneecap! LOL
Excellent observation, it is incredible how a tree can support(bear) wounds without appearing there to affect.
En radiologie, on dirait que c'est un beau fémur et une rotule un peu disproportionnée! LOL
Excellente observation, c'est incroyable comment un arbre peut supporter des blessures sans en paraître affecter.

Seems like it would hurt the tree to consume the sign...... but trees can grow over anything, they tear up ancient cities even! I like the picture!
