Hey Rosie,
Haven't seen you around in a while. I really like this photo a lot. Its obvious merits:
(1) nice composition, with the left side dominated by bamboo, the right by shadow and space, and the figure of your sister in between;
(2) the imaginative use of DOF so that the obvious subject -- your sister -- is OUT of focus. Just an excellent decision.
(3) Good title, and nicely evocative notes to go with it.
(4) Nice frame. It's a small point, but it counts. You know I'm hung up on them.
All around, really well done.

Hi Rosie - nice composition, I think the focus & DOF used here are particularly good. Your sister appears to be heacking through a jungle of some kind, but the focus is on the vegetation - living tropical indeed :)
B&W is a good choice too!

Hi Rosalie,
Fantastic shot. Point of view, depth of field, light, BG and framing are excellent. TFS. Congratulations...

Lovely to see you posting again, Rosie!
This is so original, both in content and execution. I have grown accustomed to bamboo in Asia these past 17+ years, and they are beautiful, aren't they?
There is a cool, sultry atmosphere in this one, with your chracteristic lyrical style.
Love it,
Francis

Hey Rosie
I loved your note for this photo.
I really enjoy the colours and especially when it comes to green I want to see this colour in its full glory, so for me the choice of B/W for this photo is not a very good idea ... but that is just me I guess.
I still love to look at the world through your lens ... excellent share this one is Rosie.
I hope you are having a good weekend
cheers from Ottawa, Canada where the Tulips have begin to bloom and we are going to have Tulip festival next week.
Hugs for you Rosie for such a beautiful work that you share with us on TE
cheers for now .... Sarju

I like the way this is composed and your use of the controlled depth of field used, not too shallow though,in order to get the whole of the foreground leaf sharp. Nice BW conversion too, this image is quite convincing however your sister's face expression bothers me : she's looking like she has been waiting too long for the click, a kind of absent look shy or bored peope have, stiff and looking in the inside , I wish she had been looking on the right or very directly to the leaf.
