Photographer's Note

I took this picture on Drakes bay, in Point Reyes peninsula, north of San Francisco.

First version for the name, the bay is named for Francis Drake. The bay has long been considered the Drake's most likely landing spot on the west coast of North America during his circumnavigation of the world by sea in 1579.
Second version, the Spanish named the bay Saint Francis in the 17th century. An english expansionist converted the name to Puerto Francisco Draco, which translated back to Francis Drake.

Whatever name it may have, it is a very beautiful place, despite the frequent fog.
