Photographer’s Note
American Falls (also called Rainbow Falls). It's the second largest of the 3 waterfalls at Niagara Falls State Park (one of the natural wonders of the world).
Starting your tour upstream, you will catch some neglected perspectives of Horse Shoe Falls. You will also be able to view the natural whirlpools. These are created by the river's response to its increasing acceleration and pending descent. Check out all of the views on the American side, because you can get pretty darn close (within a few meters).
But the best views are from the Canadian side, so don't miss that! Also of note are some more natural whirlpools about a 5 mile drive downstream.
This photo was taken from above the American Falls on a beautiful day in May 2005. I utilized the typical post-processing (slight contrast and auto levels).

Well, you're off to flying start, Scott, with this excellent scenic shot. I mean, it's not really what I do, but this is a serikous composition with tremendous placement of the rainbow across the diagonal. It's all there!
Cheers,
Francis

Bienvenido y felicidades por tu primer trabajo, es muy interesante por la composición y por los contrastes de color y luz. El detalle del Arco-Iris es muy bueno. Me gusta.

Nice job scott. I once visited Niagra when I was younger and really want to go back someday. This shot has excellent colors and motivates me to get my butt back there. :)

Hi Scott.
More sharpness would add, even, more interest to the photo.
Nice composition and nice moment. The rainbow also looks great.
Well done.

Hi Scott. There must be a pot of gold on that boat!! It's a nice shot of the rushing water and the mist in the air and the rainbow is perfectly placed. looking forwards to seeing more.

This is great, Scott!
You realize of course, you were "somewhere over the rainbows". And the word 'over' means 'above' rather in this case.
Great, professional reaction to the wonder of nature.
Very informative note.

Hello Scott,
I had submitted a shot of Niagara Falls, but this is far more intersting than mine. The rainbow with the rather small radius of curvature points right to the "pot of gold." A friend in Hawaii just sent me a spectacular series of rare shots of Niagara Falls when it all froze up in 1911. If you are interested receiving it, drop me a note to my university email address, batalay@umw.edu and I will forward it to you. Thanks for letting us see your astonishing photo.

Bulent

Beautiful shot, nice job getting the Maid of the Mist right in the rainbow! I didn't get to see the falls from the American side, I would have loved to get really close to the falls. I'll post some shots from the Canadian side some time soon, come and check it out.
Olivier.
