Photographer’s Note
My son and I were out looking for something to photograph. He had a 50mm lens, and we were looking at visualizing with a "normal" lens on his camera. The light just wasn't good for photographing the natural scenery, so we started looking at things closer up. In this case I like the texture of the wood, the charachter of the old metal hinge and its rust, the brown tones and the contrast of the nail-heads.
This was part of the door of an old shed located near the top of the South Fork of The Provo Canyon. I noticed others out photographing in the same area, I will be interested to see if there are any other posts here on TE.
Exposure was adjusted to maximuze the texture of the wood. There was little post processing, mostly rotation to make up for poor allignment from the shot.

I like the colors, very vibrant. It goes to show that even on bad weather days there is a lot to see. Good eye. Very nice textures as well.

Hi Dana. Congrats on the new camera! I must say I'm a little jealous of you. Down the road I'll probably upgrade my D70 as well. The image quality is off the charts. Very nice one Dana.

Is the photographer asking the viewer (me) to imagine what is behind the opening. If so, I find the abstraction of size disconcerting. If it for the sake of art, I like the image.
